How to Write Ad Copy for a Hair Salon

Most salon ads make the same mistake: they lead with the salon's name instead of the client's problem. "Luxe Hair Studio — Book Now" tells a scrolling stranger nothing about why they should care. Good salon ad copy leads with the outcome — the cut, the color, the confidence — and makes booking feel like the obvious next step.

Start with the specific service, not the salon

A headline like "Great Haircuts Since 2015" competes with every other salon on the platform. A headline built around a specific, visualizable outcome doesn't:

The second version tells the reader exactly what they're getting and roughly what it costs them in time. That's the difference between an ad someone scrolls past and one they tap.

Lead the body copy with the offer, not the history

Nobody clicking a Meta or TikTok ad wants your salon's origin story. They want to know: what do I get, and what does it cost me (in money, time, or effort) to get it? A reliable structure:

  1. The offer — what's on the table (a discount, a free add-on, a specific service)
  2. The proof — one credibility signal (walk-ins welcome, same-day booking, X years in the chair)
  3. The action — a single, low-friction next step
Example — first-time client offer

"Walk-ins welcome, or book online in 10 seconds. First-time clients get 15% off any service this week."

Use urgency that's actually true

"Limited time offer" with no end date is a tell that erodes trust. If a discount is genuinely tied to a week, a season, or a booth opening, say so specifically — "this week," "through Sunday," "for our first 20 new clients this month." Specific beats vague, and it's not even close.

Match the tone to the chair, not just the brand

A blowout bar and a barbershop shouldn't sound the same, even if they're both "hair services." A few starting points:

Don't forget the targeting

A salon's ad copy only works if it reaches people close enough to actually book. Pair the copy with a tight local radius (most salons see the best return within 3–8 miles) and interest targeting around haircare, beauty, and grooming — not broad "women 18–65" targeting that burns budget on people who'll never walk in.
